“There are many Improv shows out there at the Fringe, but none come close to One Night Stand’s perfection. When we deal with Improv, we normally get awkward silences, inconsistent plots and some nervous actors on stage, but One Night Stand’s has none of that. They are so amazingly good, you feel like you are watching a pre-rehearsed play, and their story lines, though random, they are consistent, well developed and perfectly staged.”

Mommy

I stayed up too late tonight, but I was having fun! Our show tonight was a blast and the crowd was incredible for “Traffic Light Experience”, so we obviously had to celebrate at Medina…my mom and dad were here this week, but now sadly they are gone…edinburgh will never be the same. Some of us are going to the see the our friends the Oxford Imps tomorrow, so be jealous. Right now, I am watching fellow cast mate josh sleep. He is watching Family Guy, but is asleep with his mouth open. WOOHOOOOOOOO! Edinburgh is a magical place!

Dan and the “Lady Boys of Bangkok”

Today Dan, Will, and Michele attend the show Lady Boys of Bangkok. The photo is enough to capture the essence of the show. Dan Fishbach everyone!

Mike McShane to guest on Sunday!

On Sunday, UK’s Whose Line Is It Anyway star Mike McShane will join the ensemble of One Night Stand for one night only! Book tickets early.

Imps & Standers

Last night, the Oxford Imps invited us all over for a lovely late night dinner. With about 25 of them and 8 of us, it was a party from the start– we ate a tasty meal (thank you Amy!), played a game of Swapsies (kudos to Sam), and got our first taste of Nougat Pillows. It was really such a kind gesture from the Imps. We hope to reciprocate with a picnic in the Meadows. Until then- here is a picture to remember the glorious night.

New Information

I just took an online quiz entitled “Are You a Babe?”  I am!  See ya.

Video: Jim Bowen Show

Here is a short clip from our guest appearance on the Jim Bowen chat show that Mollie mentioned earlier. We did an improvised song for a member of the audience named Kelly, who works at a shoe shop.

Andrew’s Day Off (and other things)

Hey!

Andrew from ONS here (the pianist).  We’ve been in Edinburgh for about two weeks now and been having a blast.   Yesterday was our first day off after performing eleven straight shows and many of us took that opportunity to sleep in and see shows that typically conflict with our time slot.  Kobi and I saw the show “Charlie Victor Romeo,” which was derived entirely from “Black Box” transcripts of real-life aircraft emergencies.  I highly recommend seeing it if you don’t plan on flying ever again.  Afterwards, we went and saw Tim Minchin, who did not disappoint and served as a nice contrast to the previous show where every scene ended with catastrophe and death.  Particularly brilliant was his song about marriage and finding that perfect someone, which managed to encapsulate my views on the subject by means of an over-the-top R&B spectacle.   His onstage persona is wonderfully endearing and he happens to be a great showman at the piano.  Go see him if you haven’t yet.

As for tonight, I’m extremely excited to get back to doing shows.  Our first batch went well and we’re all looking forward to continually taking the show to a new level.  Also, if anyone would like me to throw in little snippets of various songs from musicals in any of the shows, please feel free to let me know and I’ll see what I can do.

There will be more pictures and videos so keep checking back.  For those of you who don’t want us to leave Edinburgh, rest assured that I’ll be staying here forever, mainly because I don’t plan on boarding an airplane ever again.

Love and pianos,

Andrew

Day off!

Today the cast and crew took a much needed day off from our show schedule, but we’ll be back on tomorrow at our usual time and place. We’ve been selling out every show, so if you’re planning a visit be sure to book tickets early!

Many of us used the day to see shows that we normally can’t see because of conflicts with our own show, like this one. Seriously.

“Even more than most theatre, One Night Stand shows the symbiotic relationship between audience and performers. The performers know the form inside out, embrace and exploit it and with the expectations that the audience bring, the result is riotous enjoyment of a truly collaborative effort. It’s adventurous, witty, risky, low-maintenance and sincerely-played, with infectious enthusiasm.”
